A world full of fear, what a shame. The fear of losing a job, the fear of getting sick, the fear of getting old, the list goes on.
What Causes Fear?
Sin is the perpetrator of fear. Thought are planted in our mind to stimulate emotions. These emotions trigger reactions and fear is one of them. If you only knew how to stop the trigger, then you could stop the fear.
It doesn’t have to be complicated, all you have to do is follow a few steps. If you can control one emotion like anger, then you can control others like fear.
3 Steps to Overcoming Fear
Why are some people afraid of a mouse? Others fear spiders.
It’s difficult to explain how sin and fear are connected. Sin will link together several situations to achieve it’s end. This way you never can make the connection.
1. Understand Sin – have you ever traced back a rumor? It starts off as a little tale, by the time it circulates among several people the rumor has drastically changed. Thoughts work the same, a small thought simmers over time turning into something bigger.
2. Facing Your Fear – most times the thought of what you fear is worse that the fear itself. Lets take the mouse for example. If you fear a mouse, the more you think about it the bigger and more ferocious you make the mouse. Then, when the time comes that you see a mouse, it’s not the mouse that you see, but it’s the thought. The thoughts made the mouse bigger and more frightening than it really is.
3. Reverse Programming – allowing thoughts to build up to fears can be reversed. It’s a tearing down process, you made something bigger than it was, now you have to bring it back to where it really is.
Many times fear is not reality, it is created. Once planted in your mind your emotions create fear.
This is why it is imperative that you understand how sin works. Then it’s necessary that you find a belief to hold on to, that’s why God works so well for a lot of folks. A higher power, something above and beyond that is more powerful than sin…fear.
What Are You Afraid Of?
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t have a little fear of something. I do know that the more you deal with it the less fearful you become.
There is risk involved with facing fears. Talking to women, some men fear this. It’s the possibility of rejection, insecurity, these are fears associated with talking to women. The bad part about fear is it stops us from trying. What if one women says yes and the other nine say no, that’s the risk of asking. What of that one women turns out to be the best thing in your life, you would have missed out because of fear.
Fear is a controllable emotion, one that can keep you from experiencing good things in life. If you work at it, I’m confident you can overcome most fears. Don’t let sin rob you of the good things God has in store for you.
