What kind of concience are you dealing with? This is something that sin can really use to create guilt and pain in us. As mentioned before christian counseling is one way to work through this if your faced with guilt.
Definition
The voice within that distinguishes whether one’s actions are right or wrong. In psychological terms conscience is often described as leading to feelings of remorse when a human does things that go against his/her moral values.
Many times this voice comes into play after we take action. This is where sin does it’s dirty work guilt, remorse, regrets, sorrow and a bunch of other feelings start to cause us pain.
Pain is what it’s all about, emotional or physical, pain is what’s inflicted.
Mistakes
We all make mistakes, if we have the opportunity we can make amends and say were sorry. How about those times we can’t? How about those times when we did or said something and that person passed away? How do you deal with your concience then?
This is probably one of the worse types of guilt to deal with. In the short term this doesn’t help much, but keep this thought in mind, “we can’t change what we did, but we can change what we do”.
Blame
Who do you want to blame? I can tell you from experience that blaming others just makes it worse. This compounds the problems and eventually your concience catches up with you.
Sin will tell you “it’s not your fault, you were under stress” then in the next thought you’ll be hit with a ton of guilt. Remember anger is one of the 7 deadly sins, you are responsible for your actions. This is the only way to have any chance of overcoming guilt.
The first steps of healing comes from confessing and repenting.
