Doesn’t it always feel, in some form or fashion, like your always fighting with sin? It seems like we take one step forward only to take two steps backward. This becomes tiresome year after year and you began to wonder, what’s the purpose?
The Fight
When you just start to feel everything is OK, then you get hit again.
It might be a thought from the past that angers you, it could be finances, you save a few bucks and then something happens to take that an more.
It might be relationships, we all know the ups and downs that these relationships can have, were dealing with feelings and sin loves to mess with those.
But after a period of time, don’t you just get tired? Do you begin to think, what if this is all there is to life and the final question why?
One Answer
In contemplating the answer you have to compare what the outcome of a fight is. Doesn’t a fight have three outcomes? Win, lose or draw.
That thing within us, the energy which gives your flesh the ability to think, feel and be alive is known as your Spirit. Some may call it another name, but it’s there.
Let me toss this at you, what if the main purpose of this short interlude we call life is only a testing ground for your spirit? Depending on how your spirit does will determine where it goes from here. We know our body stays here, but what about our spirit?
I can accept this answer with more enthusiasm than just resigning myself to the fact that life is a fight with sin because that’s the way it is.
If that’s the way it is, we’ve been screwed. We have been put in the middle of a fight that’s not even ours.
Accept or Not?
So, if you can accept the fact that this battle we have with sin (temptation) is a way to strengthen our spirit, then won’t this energize you and renew your purpose?
I should have renamed this article from FIGHTING WITH SIN to something like OVERCOMING SIN or RESISTING SIN because this seems to be what we are up against.
So, if we yield to sin (negative energy), then stealing, hurting, cheating becomes normal because in sins world these are acceptable actions. We know this world consists of negative and positive forces, we simplify the terms by associating SIN with the negative. The outcome of our actions generally reflect what we allow ourselves to think.
Yes, we do allow things to influence us and it starts in your thoughts. This is the campground for sin to lay its claim if we allow it to. What this means is you can reject negative thoughts just as easily as you can positive, it’s a choice you always have to make.
One Last Thought
Look at the earth, the solar system, the universe – it is so massively coordinated and we, humans, are so chaotic in our own little microcosm.
The point of the comparison is – the crazy things we put ourselves through doesn’t really matter when it comes to the big picture, so why hassle it? Reject those negative thoughts and enjoy life, the world keeps spinning either way.
