As one of my readers pointed out “tell the other side of the story”, so here we go. If you are expecting a lot of scripture quoting, then you will be disappointed because my memory isn’t that good.
As it was pointed out I discuss quite a bit about sin, so how about giving equal time to God and Jesus.
OK, so lets start out with some of the common questions that surface when talking about God.
Questions That Provoke Debate:
1. If God made the heavens and the earth, then who created God?
2. If God loves us, then why does he let sin torture his creations?
3. Why do Christians…Church people suffer?
4. If science has discovered dinosaurs and things that are millions of years old, then where are these things in the bible?
5. How can you believe in something you can’t see or touch?
6. Why do innocent little babies die?
7. Why does God let good people die in natural disasters?
OK, that should cover some of the questions we have, lets try to answer a few of them.
1. Who created God? – This is a question that has no end. If you found the answer to this, then immediately the next question would be, who created the creator? This is a question where at some point you have to conclude that something, God or otherwise, has created, made, designed, the heavens and beyond. Oh, and one more thing, it was not any one of us, so why not God?
2. God loves, yet Sin tortures – Maybe a better question is, if sin can torture us, then why doesn’t sin just wipe us out, kill us right now? I believe that if sin could it would. This tells us that God has put a barrier in place so that we have time to make our own free will choice. Sin tempts, sin destroys, but it takes time. If we Allow Sin into our lives it will eventually destroy us and yes, kill us. But remember, it can’t do this unless we allow it to. One more time…it can’t do this unless we allow it to.
3. Christians Suffer? – Just because you go to church doesn’t mean you know how to fight sin. You can throw a sword in my hand, but if I don’t know how to use it I will be chopped up into little pieces by a skilled swordsman. Sin is a master at inflicting suffering. I know people of all faiths, who have religiously gone to church for 30 years or more, who are sick. Who are suffering physically and financially, why? It has to be one of two things, either the church stinks or they never learned how to use the things that God has already given us to use.
4. Dinosaurs not accounted for – I’ve heard two stories about this, one is that science is right, and the other is that science is flawed and the dates are all wrong. To be honest, I don’t know the answer and I will leave the comment section open on this post if you can shed any light in this area.
5. Believe in things you can’t see or touch – You have to distinguish the difference between the natural and the unnatural (spiritual). We live in a world where we see, touch, feel, hear and smell. To go beyond this requires belief and faith, then at some point you need confirmation. I have seen first hand people who were stout disbelievers, this was until they came face to face with mortality. In their final hours they called on God for help, I was there, I heard it, I saw it, It was my father. For 72 years he rebuked the existence of any sort of God, but in his final hours he saw something that changed his mind.
6. Why do innocent babies die? – I don’t know.
7. People die in disasters – Nature has its own agenda, as we are part of this earth we become part of what happens.
What Do You Believe?
There was a time when everyone believed the world was flat. What happened when they discovered it was round?
What happens when 3 doctors tell you there is nothing more they can do for you, and you are left on your own to die, what then?
If you have a conscience and you screwed up, you hurt people, you left a trail of wreckage behind you, you’re filled with guilt, is sin going to help you?
What are the odds that when you look up at the stars at night and you see all these twinkly things that stay organized century after century, what are the odds that this was just an accident, a big bang theory?
This computer I am writing with, the computer you are reading with, the Internet that is connecting us, it becomes useless without the right voltage, the right connection, the right Power Source.
This is how I concluded, for myself, that there is a God. I am like the computer, I am useless without the right power source. But even God created a structure that includes prayer, the church and Jesus.
Jesus came here as a man, a fleshly person, but he lived in the spirit. What does this mean? This means he resisted all temptations, he was the model of perfection, yet he was crucified by the very creation he was here to save.
Have you heard this before “Through Christ you are healed” or “Ask anything in my name and it shall be done”.
So God set the structure up so that we go through Jesus, the power source. He didn’t say go to the devil, do a little sinful business and then you get what you ask.
I wrote a post Spirit over Flesh, in recent times I have had to practice this to survive. It works, but I had to follow God’s rules, I have belief, I have faith, but it required action to make it work. Believe me , I have allowed my flesh to do enough damage these past years where I need a lot of spirit to straighten it out.
People have tried a variety of sources to find happiness, some have looked to statues, volcanoes, Buddha statues, birds, you name it, but God has stood the test of time and for a good reason, he’s God.
Look what man has come up with – a psychiatrist, a pill, these just knock the flesh out temporarily the core problem is still there. So if the best man has to offer is a temporary solution, what is the permanent solution? The permanent solution is connecting to the source that brings us back to life. Just like your computer, a undistorted clean connection. A connection where all worries and fears melt away, a connection where you live in good health and happiness.
Tell me, are you finding it on the nightly news? How about our government, are they putting you mind at ease? Maybe your local bank has some answers, they like to keep you in debt. No, we’re at the point where you need a better source.
I know we get stuck in our own little box, a little world where we stop wondering about God, Jesus and this source of happiness. God is a source that lifts burdens, he breaks bondage’s in the blink of an eye, but even God can’t do this until you take action.
I’ll leave you with this…God has built the framework for his house, it’s been painted, the carpet has been laid, the furniture has been delivered and the refrigerator is stocked with food. Now, all you have to do is take the key and open the door.
The only thing God asks for is action and that action comes in the form of FAITH.
God has always been waiting for you to come home.
