There have been a lot of topics written and discussed about relieving stress. Depending on the books you’ve read, and the channels you’ve watched, you’ll find that there are various ways to handle stress. Here is a summary of the most mentioned tips in relieving stress.
1. Maintain a healthy diet Have your breakfast, lunch, tea, and dinner accordingly. Skipping meals just because you’re busy doing work, or because you want to slim down is not a wise thing to do as hunger can cause you to think irrationally be short-tempered. Your food should preferably consist of a balance of carbohydrates (e.g. rice, cereals, and grains), protein (meat, fish, egg, and legumes), fiber (fruits), vitamins (vegetables), and water (drinks, preferably non-diuretic). Relieve stress by avoiding too much sugar, alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, and drugs. These substances, especially the last four directly contribute to the presence of unwanted chemicals in your body which may make you ill.
2. Exercise you body Exercising enables you body to fight off stress factors by making it strong and healthy. It relieves stress by distracting your mind from mind-boggling issues by concentrating on moving your body and flexing your muscles. The best way to exercise is by putting variety into your routine – include aerobic exercises, weightlifting and stretching. You can also try uplifting your spirit by doing yoga and meditating. That way, you can relieve stress both physically and mentally.
However, if you’ve never exercised during your entire life, don’t take on to much to soon as it can give you muscle pains and other injuries. Relieve stress by walking 15 minutes every morning, then add some running for 3 times a week, then add swimming in the weekend, then low-impact aerobics for a start. If you feel more comfortable, you may even join a self-defense class, which will emphasize on balancing mind and body strengths.
3. Get a hobby Not all of us are able to do the exercises as discussed above. People who are unfit or injured may want to try other, less-physical options. Relieving stress works when you divert your mind from stress factors by concentrating it elsewhere. Gardening, taking care of a pet, jigsaw puzzles, DIY… if any of these things make you feel happy, by all means, indulge in them!
4. Get some sunshine into life If you’ve worked hard and saved some money for luxuries, you might want to consider going on a vacation. Depending on your budget, you may decide to go for a domestic destination or an international one. Relieve stress by going to the beach, climbing mountains, exploring foreign cities or learning about a foreign culture. Check out the weather too – the best time for you to go on a holiday is when it’s sunny.
5. Work stress Issues that range from a high-absenteeism colleague, extra workload, unpaid overtime, to unfair treatment can always be voiced out. Make sure that you address the issue to the right person, which is the one who is able to provide a solution to the problem. Relieve stress in the work place by discussing with the management whatever issue that bothers your work concentration, performance and quality.
6. Another excellent tip to stress relieve is go to spas or massage therapy centers. These therapies improve blood circulation and are relaxing to both mind and body. Also, try to talk about whatever is bothering you with you trusted friends, or join a support group. Online support groups are just a mouse click away.
Make Changes Slowly
When your trying to change things for the better, don’t try to do it all at once. This can cause even more stress if you do to many changes at one time.
One of the things sin does is make you think that you have to make big changes for them to be effective. This is another lie, little changes over time lead to big benefits. What can happen, if you take on to many changes at once, is you feel guilty because you can’t stick with the commitment.
This business of Sin has to be hard to grasp, it’s difficult believing it is behind our daily problems. But I’m telling you when you drill down into the reasons of why we do things, you will find sin somewhere in the mix.
Stress is one of the big tools sin uses to destroy us, use the suggestions above to help overcome these daily stressful issues and sin no more.
