In this series we want to look at the crippling affect sin has on our lives, specifically suicide.
There are consequences to your actions and thoughts when you do things that are not right. Since I have been in this situation more than once I know how it feels, there is this unique type of pain that just won’t go away, slowly one alternative starts creeping into the picture.
Lets Call the Alternative What it is, Suicide
Guilt is an internal mechanism we have that indicates right from wrong. When we repeat certain wrong actions this guilt can get out of control and start to eat us up like cancer.
You have heard the saying “Living With Guilt,” go ahead and try it, after a while many things you thought would never be soon become realistic alternatives. When you are in this mental state of mind it doesn’t take long for thoughts to turn into an action plan. Suicide is the plan of action that sin has to relieve the pain.
How to Rid Yourself of the Pain
You have many people that have taken action, they have committed suicide and now the pain is gone.
There is one redeeming fact, Time Does Heal All. This is true if we do not keep repeating the actions that caused this guilt in the first place. It’s like a scab on a wound, if we keep picking the scab the wound will never heal.
Lets look at this another way, a way that sin looks at us.
Did you ever think about why does sin want to destroy us? The first thing is this is sin’s nature, it’s just part of what it is. A bird is meant to fly and sin is meant to destroy. The second thing is if sin doesn’t destroy you, and you recover, then you become the enemy. If you adopt the No More Sin attitude you will become a foe of sin.
I know, this sounds way out there and many of you don’t even believe God or Sin exists, but you have to believe this…people don’t commit suicide for no reason at all.
What is that unseen, untouchable thing that provokes us to do these things?
Final Note -
You must realize that if you can allow this to happen, then you can un-allow this to happen (using some bad english) but it’s true. This is so very important to understand because many people feel so helpless and out of control, that’s what sin wants you to think.
When you are in pain and you feel helpless, suicide becomes a viable option.
My friends, give it a second and third thought, re-read some of what was said here. Reach out to family, friends, church, groups, take your mind of yourself for just a minute and think of how this action will affect others. Your kids and family can handle the thought of a natural death, but suicide is the type of death that can leave mental scares on the minds of loved ones for years to come.
