Just as your body grows and matures so does your spirit, and this is how we get a Mature Spirit.
We don’t start out that way and it’s really hard to understand if you don’t believe there are unseen things such as a spirit, sin or God. It might be better understood if you think in terms of negative and positive. Science has proven that there is a balance of negative to positive, when these forces get out of balance this is when the trouble start.
What Good is a Mature Spirit?
A mature spirit helps us distinguish right from wrong. In fact, it prevents you, most times, from even getting involved with wrong.
Sin is the temptress, sin plants seeds in your mind that triggers your flesh to want things it shouldn’t have. Sin provokes you to say and do things that hurt you and others. A mature spirit can filter these thoughts and discard them before they take root and do damage.
Why Are We Tested?
Just as in school, tests give us an indication of where we’re at, knowledge wise, on different subjects.
It is our responsibility to take it from there and become better, if this is what we want. Lets face facts, some people have no desire to become better and we just have to let life execute its own lessons. You know “What goes around comes around” this type of lesson.
Each of us takes our own unique tests, being human we do fail, but fortunately we are allowed to take make up tests and in some cases we have to retake the test many times before we get it right.
What Changes Will You Go Through as Your Spirit Matures?
The biggest change I’ve gone through is desires.
Things I desired before and thought were important just don’t hold the same weight as they once did. Working yourself to death for a hunk of metal like an expensive car, it’s just not that important anymore. This doesn’t mean it’s not nice to have, this only means it’s no longer a priority. Life becomes a little more than working for a car.
In the context of growth your spirit is feed better nutrition because you want a mature spirit. This means you expose your mind to more positive things. This way when it’s time to take the next test you have a much better chance of passing.
What’s The Point To All of This?
When you look around, and this may apply to you too, it always seems people are struggling in some shape or manner.
You can capture the majority of reasons people struggle in three categories: Money, Relationships and Health.
So, the whole point of talking about sin and spirits and God is to balance things out, look for solutions. It’s that simple, finding ways to make life more pleasant, more enjoyable. You have heard the saying “Misery loves company?” Well, I don’t need this type of company anymore and we don’t have to put up with this if we don’t want to.
Here’s the key, if you spend all your time and energy struggling, worrying about this and that, when will you have time to pass the tests?
Make a list and keep all those things that are really, really important to you aside, then throw the rest of the crap away. This is the start of internal housecleaning, you are on the path to a mature spirit.
