How heavy is depression? Overcoming depression is even a bigger task if you don’t know how. Lets dig into this monster called depression.
We usually don’t start out depressed, something has to trigger this. The loss of a loved one, a bad situation, finances, health, worry, etc.. Loneliness can turn into depression. The point here is there’s a process that takes place before depression sets in.
Mild Depression
There are 20 million Americans saddled with some type of depression. You can go years and years with only mild symptoms and never feel like your sick, but this form of depression still wears on you.
Depression is such an ugly word, it depresses me to say it. That’s why we want to always recognize sin at the core of this disease. As mentioned, we never started this way thoughts, feeling, emotions perpetuated this problem and sin is at the core of it.
You can be mildly depressed if you feel a bit tired. It can be a dull laugh where as you use to laugh freely before. Just be aware of changes that are not normally associated with your normal everyday routine.
Insecure
What does being insecure mean? This is another weakness sin takes and knocks you over the head with.
It can be appearance, financial insecurity, relationship problems, health uncertainty and much more. So, why would this fall under the category of depression?
The reason is these are all negative attributes, they work on your mind, this commonly develops into depression. Depression is the final stop for a lot of different problems, they all seem to funnel into this one pot.
Again, recognizing how this ends up, you can overcome depression before it starts. I know, all this is so easily said than done, but it has to be said so we at least have a chance to do something about it before it destroys us.

There are two things associated with depression that is deadly. They are pain and isolation. Pain will occupy a lot of your energy and time. Isolation will pull you away from any chance you have of overcoming depression. These two things together are a deadly combination and this is why depression is such a serious illness.
We’ve only discussed how this will affect your mind, we haven’t touched on how badly this can destroy your health.
It’s a strange world we live in. Depression, being a major problem, is really unique to each of us. Losing my parents, then most recently my pet, these events created grief far beyond what I have ever experienced before. The question that comes to mind as I contemplate life and death is, who really cares besides just a handful of people? Out of the 6 billion people on this planet who even knows you and i exist? Take my pet for example, I was the only one who cared that she died, I was the only one affected by her death.
This is why I keep emphasizing the point about staying connected. Even though your pain and depression is unique to your situation, I know sin is trying to keep you isolated. Comfort comes with people connecting, this is the only way to make sense out of how lonely we can be in a world of 6 billion people.
It can be even more depressing when you think about a world where 99.9% of the people don’t even know you are here. But overcoming depression is a matter of finding a few people who we can relate to, just a few people we can connect with.
