Now you know what sin is all about, but how does one incorporate all this stuff so that it’s useful?
Isn’t life tough enough and now I’m asked to learn more and change and reject sin, what’s the answer?
Spiritual Triggers
Think back, when you react a certain way isn’t there something that sets you off? Someone cuts you off on the road and you go from neutral to anger in a flash, that was a trigger.
We all have them, what triggers one person may never affect another. The key is to identify what your negative triggers are and work on it.
Positive Triggers
If we have things that negatively trigger us, then it stands to reason that we can create triggers that are positive.
In the context of sin we have to make short little words that do this.
For example, when I finally had enough of sin and wanted to change I had to understand sin and it’s ways first. This meant learning about the 7 deadly sins and how it affected the way I reacted to them.
After getting to know these things I then came up with the phrase “Sin No More”. So now when sin comes knocking, it can be night or day, I use my trigger of sin no more and halt it immediately.
By doing this I will recall all the things I learned instantly and cut sin off at the knees.
One More Example
Your flesh likes worldly things, not all are good for you. Your spirit has an agenda to be pure, influenced by lets say Godly things. So what can you do?
Many times your flesh wins the battle and afterwords you feel bad. Here’s what you do.
Find out what your spirit needs. Read the bible, talk to people, but I believe in your heart you know what’s right. Then think about what things your flesh wants, especially in areas that cause you trouble.
It’s time to make a trigger, mine is simple, Spirit over Flesh.
If someone pushes me the fleshly response is to push back, do physical harm. The spirit rules say turn the other cheek, what do you do? If you want to change and have a strong spirit you must trigger spirit over flesh.
No matter what other people think, to overcome the fleshly reactions, you have to make your own trigger phrase. For this phrase to work it has to be attached to things you learned. A spiritual trigger is meaningless unless you have substance behind it. Just like I mentioned turn the other cheek.
God doesn’t tell you to do this so you can get your butt kicked, he tells you this for a reason. Now this doesn’t mean you stand there and let someone kill you, no, there are other spiritual weapons you learn to use. The reason is you don’t want to let sin suck you into his game.
Do you want to know how it works?
Someone who wants to physically harm you has a demon spirit in them. Since God says “nothing on this earth can harm you” this means your spirit is stronger than the enemy. If you believe this, when confronted just trigger this promise and the demon spirit will flee. This means the body in which it tried to harm you with will flee too.
I know it sounds a little weird, but it’s only because your use to dealing in a fleshly manner.
I’ve had physical problems where the Doctors wanted me on several medications, but I practiced what I preached and kept with spirit over flesh. The flesh is healing and the spirit is getting stronger, it’s just the facts.
In the world they call it mind over matter. Lets see how you will use it.
