What are the causes of stress? Is there any chance to ever enjoy stress free living again? There’s always a chance, it depends on you.

They say cancer is the number one killer in society, I would ask could the cause behind it be stress? Lets be honest, we know how damaging stress is, it’s like worry, they cause lots of problems but solve none. You can’t tell me one instance when worry has made a positive impact on your problems. In fact it’s just the opposite, it adds extra burden to your life.

Reactions

Stress and worry are reactions, there products of feelings we have when facing problems. This falls right back in the lap of what sin tries to put on us.

Some people get to the point where they feel uncomfortable without stress. You know the habit everything is rush rush, always in a hurry, never enough time in a day. They never learned how to stop and smell the roses.

What does it take to change? Unfortunately, in some cases, life needs to hit them hard with some circumstances or illness to get their attention. Even then it doesn’t work.

I knew a man that had lung cancer, he smoked for 35 years, they were able to extract the cancer which gave him a second chance. As you might guess, only one week after going home I saw him in his garage smoking a cigarette. Go figure.

Reducing Stress

If you desire to reduce stress in your life you can do it. One effective method is weening yourself away from things that cause you stress. The key here is weening, don’t try to change everything in one day, it can create more stress if you try it that way.

The part of reducing stress that many people struggle with is giving up things.  We just don’t want to let loose of stuff, even if that stuff is killing us. Did you ever hear the saying “you have to give to get”? Well, you might have to give up some stuff to get back your peace of mind.

Financial stress is one of the biggest problems we face. Some do to factors in the economy we can’t control and most due to habits we can control. The big word you hear in recent times is Debt Stress.

Buy now pay later, the mantra of living in the U.S. these days. Debt, a form of bondage, is a large contributor to stress. Sin loves debt because it creates many forms of stress in our lives. Some of them are:

  • Health
  • Divorce
  • Worry
  • Anger
  • Fear
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Suicide

The list goes on, this little four letter word Debt creates much more damage beyond debt itself, that’s why sin is in love with debt.

So if reducing stress is what you want, debt is the place to start.You can see how many other problems you can solve by doing so.

Priorities

Could it be that you are stressed because your priorities are out of order?

  • Do you over commit yourself where you end up feeling guilty because you let people down?
  • Are you so busy working for things that you miss out on enjoying life?
  • You want the best for your family, so you work long hours to provide, but really all your family wants is you?

You see, sin lays this blanket of thoughts over us about how important things are. You envy someone who has a new plasma TV, you feel deserving, you can’t afford it, but debt satisfy’ s the desire.

Your kids see someone at school that just got a new $150.00 pair of basketball shoes, you feel the disappointment in their voice, out comes the credit card.

These are the things we have to prioritize, is it a life full of stress trying to keep up with the Jones, or do we desire less to gain more. More of what? More of enjoying life and being able to sleep at night.

You can live stress free and still have nice things, it’s only a matter of what’s important to you and how you will handle stress.
