The 7 Deadly Sins Uncovered
February 9th, 2010 | Author: admin
Over the ages, there have been 7 deadly sins that we as humans are susceptible to. This means sin can easily get us to play it’s game.
The problem with this is allowing these virtues into your life will end up hurting you or someone else. Chances are you have gotten use to it and have found ways to rationalize these virtues, this is what sin hopes for so you won’t recognize the harm it does.
Lets look at these 7 sins, first the sin and then the opposing virtue.
- Pride – Humility
- Greed – Giving
- Envy – Love
- Anger – Kindness
- Lust – Self Control
- Gluttony – Balance
- Laziness – Patience
The first 4 or 5 are pretty straight forward, the last couple might require a bit more thought. This list covers quite a bit of ground when it comes to the problems we have in this world.
Lets take anger for example, there are anger management courses one can take. There are anger management classes for specific problems one has, but do they reach the core of the problem?
The 7 deadly sins, or vices as the world calls these, are a list of generic short comings were all subject to. Even the best of the best are human, this brings us back to, what to do?
The first thing you must do is NOT think that sin is a word that only applies to a religious group or following. As I’ve said before Sin is no respector of belief. If you have thoughts your fair game.
The other thing you must do is Keep it simple.
This is one of the hardest things to do, the reason is we have made things complicated, the world really has for dependency. The more complicated a car is made the less chance you have of fixing it yourself.
Lets take a few words from our list of 7 sins, Greed. Look at where the world is due to greed. Because of this we have more people starving, there are more people worrying and there’s more stress because of it.
Lets look at gluttony. The desire for more things leads to health issues, divorces, anger, anxiety and a whole slew of other problems. The fear that you may lose what you have or that want for more, do you feel like your running in circles? Even when you get what you want, is there something else that pops upon T.V. that you have to have? This is sin (gluttony) at the center of this revolving door.
You might ask, what’s wrong with wanting things? I would say nothing if you can afford it, it doesn’t cause stress and it doesn’t cause numerous other problems trying to keep it. Be honest, living in a materialistic society it’s hard to not over extend ourselves because we want it NOW.
Sin at the Core
All the problems you encounter on a daily basis has some sort of sin at its core. Whether it’s one of the 7 deadly sins or a sub-category of it, you will find it lurking in the background.
The question remains, how bad will it have to get for you or what you do to others before you come to grips with this concept? Please remember that sin can only suggest, we permit it to enter and permeate our lives. It only takes the blink of an eye for you to change this.
My dear friends I know the damage anger does, I know how pride can blind common sense, I know what’s behind this, can you grasp what you can’t see?
Look around anger, lust, envy, greed, pride, these are all manifestations of the underlying core seeds of sin. These emotions that cause so many problems didn’t just happen, they started as a thought. Now that your time is consumed with these issues you can’t even breath, how could you even begin to think about sin being a problem.
Think about this, how many problems would disappear if you refused to allow sin in anymore and said Sin No More? I’ll tell you, a whole lot of problems will go away, some instantly.
Don’t let sin destroy you, you have a choice.
Stress and Anxiety
It’s not uncommon to find oneself a little overwhelmed at the thought of a particular upcoming event or situation. Sometimes demands may be so great that it is difficult to slow down and take a deep breath, causing us to worry about everything.
Practicing relaxation techniques, meditation or even taking time for a regular walk on the beach can all help to reduce stress levels and facilitate a feeling of calm – helping us to wind down and relax.
In more recent times, research has confirmed this traditional wisdom. There are now many published clinical studies demonstrating the ability of a range of herbs to support the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system and maintain a healthy equilibrium – which will assist with staying calm under pressure.
