I don’t think there’s a one of us who hasn’t felt rejection.
This can come by not being invited to a party, being turned down for a date, not asked to a business meeting, again we come back to hurt feelings. The next question is, how do you handle this?
Some people let rejection pass right over their heads, this means it doesn’t bother them. Others take it a bit harder, it might work on their esteem, it could drive them to be loaners.
In my own experience I have found it easier and easier to take as I get older, why? The reason is you find that people really don’t know any more than you do, but through rejection they get control of you if you let them. They call this Pushing Your Buttons.
Some folk are real good at finding the right things to say that make you feel bad. The key is recognizing this and countering by not responding. You take control back by doing nothing, what a great tool.
Rejection comes in many forms. It could be a huge blow, like a partner being unfaithful to a loved one moving out and calling off a relationship for good.
Rejection may come in the smallest of ways, from someone forgetting about an important occasion to a partner who simply falls out of love.
Rejection can be a date who doesn’t show up or a date who says that they don’t want to take things further.
But whatever the scenario, if you are on the receiving end of rejection, you need to keep things in perspective by looking at the bigger picture and focusing on the many positive aspects of your life.
The Tips
1. Consider the Source – There are people born with the mission to hurt others with words. If you start looking at these people for what they are you will soon feel sorry for them. Imagine going through life with this as a purpose, what a waste.
2. Get to Know Yourself – This is a big tip, get comfortable with You. If your not as smart in one area say yea, big deal, tell me something I don’t know. The more you know and admit your weaknesses the less rejection hurts.
Folks, life is just to short and being happy with who you are is a blessing.
When you learn to sin no more feeling rejected becomes a thing of the past.
