Why is Death so Painful?

The old story goes something like this: DEATH IS A PART OF LIFE.

Now, we all know we have to die someday, no argument there, but how about the events leading up to death? Why so much pain?

Of course there are accidents and death comes swiftly to some folks, but again I see so many people languish in pain for years before they die, it doesn’t make any sense to me.

Is It Sins Fault?

On this website I pin so many things on sin, but in reality we have a brain and we make our own choices. Even with the warnings on the side of a package of cigarettes people still smoke, the x-rays show your liver is in distress and people still drink alcohol, we create more stress than there should be, is all of this sins fault?

Sin is certainly not going to steer you in the other direction, but it cannot force you to be partner to things that hurt you, sin can tempt you but it cannot force you to do these things.

So, I don’t think that it’s death that’s painful, I know there is a lot of pain that people go through in pre-death if they don’t die quickly.

I’m sure you know of family or friends that became ill and suffered for years with no quality of life at all. Then tack on the emotional and financial burden these situations encompass and this makes for a less than thrilling exit from this earth.

Your Body Has Survival Instincts

One thing I’ve come to know is that our body’s have a survival instinct in them. Even under health duress your body want’s to live. Added to this the advancements of modern day science and you can keep a body alive well past the spirit.

So now we ask the question, do we let someone suffer in hopes of the occasional miracle, or is there an alternative?

For myself death is much more inviting compared to being trapped in a body of pain and dependency. So, do we let sin off the hook on this one? The thing is sin and suffering seem to go together, if that’s the case then somewhere in the equation sin still resides. The roots of a plant needs water to survive, so do we need a nudge from sin to fuel the things that can cause us harm and suffering?

Your body has keen survival instincts, it’s kind of interesting how it finds ways to heal itself as long as it can. This could be where the pain comes in when we near death, sin follows a pattern of pain and destruction, squeezing out every last bit of torture right until the end where as your body tries to regenerate itself. When you see what pain is endured before death, being hit by a truck seems like a blessing.

What ever happened to passing away in your sleep. How about the heart muscle just giving out and the person has a peaceful transition to the next step.

I can say I don’t fear leaving this earth I fear not dying right away and being a burden to others.

The bottom line is – Make decisions that will keep the only body you have in good health, then when your time comes pray that the lights go out fast, this makes the most sense to me.
